This out and back easy ride is on a canal towpath with a packed gravel surface. For most of the route the towpath is located between the canal and the river. However there are sections where the canal and towpath move further away from the river. One gains elevation when traveling upstream, but the gain is extremely gradual. The route is tree shaded and travels nearby or through several villages. There are no fees. The starting point is at Canal Towpath Park (north of the junction of US Route 202 and PA route 32). I will begin riding at 9:45 AM and ride upriver approximately 20 miles to Upper Black Eddy. Riders may purchase a snack or lunch in Upper Black Eddy at the Homestead General Store, which is located adjacent to the tow path. The plan is then to turn around and ride back to the starting point. Riders can do the complete ride or turn around at any point and return to the start. Riders should be self-sufficient and able to fix flats or do minor maintenance.
Registration for this event is currently closed. Check back soon for the launch of Bike Your Park Day for 2020!
