This is a no-drop, easy-pace, afternoon gravel ride. Families welcome. Terrain is crushed rock with ~1 mile on (paved) Hwy 31. It's mostly flat with a few low hills & one short, very steep hill up to the Holy Family Shrine (the glass chapel visible from I-80). Riders could elect to walk it or skip the hill up to/back from the shrine & either wait for the group at the bottom or continue on toward Schramm Park.
I'm calling this beginner-level gravel, through it's 16 miles total, so not beginner cycling. This would be a good route for a person comfortable riding 25+ miles paved who is curious about gravel. It's accessible to cars at all points of the route, so a rider could get an emergency pickup if needed. (SAG not provided - all participants ride at their own risk and are responsible for themselves.) Though the route is on public roads, traffic is very light.
Picnic potential at the turnaround/Schramm. Bring water, snacks, cash for optional NE Aquarium entry &/or shrine donation.
