My 2020 Adventure Cycling weekend will begin from my home in Albany, NY and end in Canastota, NY following the Empire State Trail/Erie Canalway Trail. Mix of on-road, paved bicycle path, stone dust bicycle path, and "natural" bicycle path. Generally level and not excessively difficult. Will use the Parks & Trails New York guidebook with prior reference to their interactive map - http://www.ptny.org/bike-canal/map/ .
This Cycling Weekend is the just first segment of my 6th Erie Canalway Trail ride from Albany to Buffalo NY and return. I'll ride a 56 cm Long Haul Trucker with Ortlieb panniers and Topeak bar bag. Total mileage will be around 800 miles and I will spend about $1,600 mostly on lodging. On the weekend, the ride will cover about 156 miles as follows: 6/1/20 – Albany to Amsterdam (51 Miles), 6/2/20 – Amsterdam to Herkimer (51 miles), and 6/3/20 – Herkimer to Canastota (54 Miles). I will stay in hotels costing $197 (2017 costs).
I turned 79 on 3/9/20.
