This will be our first bikepacking trip as a family with our 7 years old son and a test for taste.
Dad will carry shelter, clothing, camping equipment, bike repair, some food with is bikepacking gear.
Mom will carry a couple sleeping mats and bags, some food and clothing in rack supported paniers.
Son will carry his own 2 bottles of water and a few things in his backpack.
Parking mid morning in Troy, NH, we will be heading NW to Keene, NH using the Cheshire rail-trail and have lunch break at a Keene deli early afternoon.
After lunch we will catch the Ashuelot rail-trail SW towards West Sanzey where we get on back roads to Swanzey Lake Campground for the night, situated right by Swanzey Lake.
The next morning we will head East on backroads to return to Troy, have lunch there then head back home in the afternoon.
The terrain is mostly unpaved compact gravel for the first day, 19-20 miles and a couple miles of asphalt. The 12 miles return is fully paved.
