- Ride Description
On a scenic, paved and low-use county road, with many gravel forest roads in the area. We will camp at Bates State Park (camping fee) on Friday, ride to Sunshine Guard Station to spend the night and return to Bates on Sunday.
This is a river-grade ride down to Sunshine GS, along the Middle Fork of the John Day River. Guard station offers a kitchen, outhouse, a common area and camping in the yard. Water and gear transport available with the provided sag wagon. Meals on your own.
The full distance of the road is paved and could be ridden nearly 50 miles to the west if you're ambitious. Additional gravel roads in the area for fatter tires or walking.
Group size limited by occupancy at FS Rental to 8.
