Ride Description

My husband and I are doing a self-guided tour of the Great Allegheny Passage and Chesapeak & Ohio Canal Towpath, from Pittsburgh PA to Georgetown in Washington DC. We plan a leisurely pace with 2 layover days along the way, so we can explore Antietam Battlefield, Sheperdstown WV, and Harpers Ferry WV. We hired a tour company to arrange lodging and luggage transfer, as well as some pre and post tour shuttles. The trail is a mix of surfaces, but my Surly LHT and my husband's Catrike Villager are equal to the task. The terrain is gradually downhill in our direction. There will be some tunnels and a number of historic sites along the way. We will be staying in bed and breakfasts and small inns and motels along our route. We are very excited about this epic 12 day tour.
