Pack up your tri gear in a backpack and use your road/tri bike to travel to a triathlon. Then use the same bike during the triathlon.
This route will take us from Madison, WI to the Lake Mills Triathlon which is held on Sunday, June 6, 2021. We leave on Saturday from the starting site for IronMan Wisconsin triathlon (held in September) at Law Park in Madison, WI. The route travels east through Madison on the Capital City Trail to Cottage Grove Road and then on Vilas Road to reach Cottage Grove.
The Glacial Drumlin Trail (trail pass fee) will then be used to reach the destination of Lake Mills. If the GD Trail is too muddy for skinny road bike tires, then Cottage Grove Road will be used instead. After completing the triathlon (yet another fee) on Sunday, reverse the route to return. This route is generally flat, easy and scenic if you like rural Wisconsin scenery. But it will be the first time I have packed a wetsuit for a bike tour.
