Thank you for being part of an amazing weekend of bike travel! Bike Travel Weekend included over 700 trips with more than 5,600 participants in 50 U. S. states, 6 Canadian provinces, and 11 countries! It was a success because of YOU. We also want to give a shout-out to the Bike Travel Weekend volunteers who offered guidance to participants and helped promote Bike Travel Weekend.

Medicine for the Soul in the Medicine Bow Mountains

Ride Description

Leave from Cheyenne Friday morning and ride on paved roads to the Medicine Bow National Forest continuing to the area around "the summit" which is the highest point on the transcontinental I 80 Interstate Highway. There two options for camping; back country camping in the National Forest or camping at Curt Gowdy State Park, which is in route to the summit. The state park is a fee area. Return on Saturday morning to Cheyenne.

The first 25 miles is a moderate ride to Curt Gowdy State Park. The grade steepens after that to the Summit. The later portion of the route is more difficult. Overall the route climbs approximately 2500 feet in 35 miles.
