Ride Description

We will be joined by our teenaged grandchildren, all novices to bike travel. Starting in Highland, Utah on the paved Murdock Canal Trail, we follow it to the mouth of Provo Canyon. It joins the paved Provo River Trail and follow to the very nice Utah Lake State Park campground ($40 for RV or 2 tents, reserve @ stateparks.utah.gov). Nearby is an activity center with ropes course, boat rides on the river, etc. The next day we follow the paved South Provo Bike Trail along Lakeview Parkway, cross over I-15, then follow less-traveled country roads to Springville, then cross I-15 again, taking farm roads to Lincoln Beach Campground ($20), also on the lakeshore in a secluded area, with views of the lake and distant mountains. We will take games for entertainment. On Sunday morning, the teens will be picked up by their parents and we will bike back. All roads/bike paths are paved and relatively flat, the perfect way to introduce our grandchildren to the joys of bike travel.
