Save the date for next year’s adventure!! We are already looking ahead to June 3 – 5, 2022 for the next Bike Travel Weekend!
The terrain is mostly paved and flat, although there are a few hills and a one mile section of gravel road. We will start Friday June 4, 2021 at the D Street trailhead of the Cardinal Greenway Rail-trail. There are 28 miles of rail-trail, then 8 miles of county roads.
Our destination is Summit Lake State Park (https://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/files/summit_lake_trail.pdf). Admission to the park is $7.00 and last year campsites were $35.00. They allow two tents per site, so the fee can be divided among riders. Saturday we will return to Richmond via the same route, in reverse.
This is a beginner difficulty route. We do plan to camp, so that will make it a little more difficult. Friday evening meal, Saturday morning Breakfast, and snacks will have to be carried. There is an Amish grocery where we leave the Cardinal Greenway at mile 28. This ride will take at least 3 hours and could easily be 4 hours if needed.
2 people are joining this ride and are entered in the sweepstakes.
