Choose Your Own Adventure

Did you find an Adventure Cycling itinerary that you would love to do, but the departure date does not work for you? Maybe you are looking to travel with a group of friends or relatives as a family vacation or reunion. We may have the solution for you! Put together your group, choose one of our great itineraries and a time of year you’d like to ride — we will try to make it happen for you!

We can support a limited number of Choose Your Own Adventures in 2021, so act now to grab a unique and personalized experience. We require at least 90 days advance notice before the start of your tour in order to adequately coordinate your adventure. Unfortunately we aren't able to fulfill every Choose Your Own Adventure request that we receive.

Our Choose Your Own Adventure tours follow one of our four Support Levels: Self Contained, Van Supported, Inn to Inn, or Fully Supported. Please read more about each level of support to decide which is right for you.

If we are able to create the tour for you, we will share with you a basic itinerary with accommodation styles and daily mileage, similar to the itineraries we have published on our website, as well as a per-person and minimum tour cost based on your group size. If the tour fits your vision, a 50% deposit (25% of which is non-refundable) and completed registration form per person will be due in order to secure your dates. Final payment is due 90 days before your tour's scheduled departure. Our Tour, Your Group Inquiry

After inquiring about a Choose Your Own Adventure tour, our staff will coordinate with you to discuss the options. After some initial ground work, we'll present you a basic itinerary, dates, and price (both per/person and a minimum tour cost). With that information, you can decide to proceed with the tour plans.

Note: Choose Your Own Adventures are designed for groups of at least four. Price is dependent on proposed group size.

Payment Schedule

In order to secure the tour dates, a deposit of 50% of the tour price is due per person within 2 weeks of receiving the itinerary packet from us. 50% of this deposit (25% of the tour cost) is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Small changes to the itinerary may be able to be made, but not guaranteed, up to 2 weeks after your deposit is made. After that time, changes to the itinerary are not allowed.

The remaining 50% of your full tour payment is due 90 days before your tour departure.

If you request a Choose Your Own Adventure tour within any of these payment windows, the payment due will be the total amount due at that scheduled time. 25% of the tour cost at any point is non-refundable and non-transferable.

The minimum group size must be met by 90 days before your tour departure. If the minimum group size is not met at this time, Adventure Cycling may cancel the tour or adjust the price. If Adventure Cycling cancels the CYOA because the minimum group size is not met, the cancellation will be treated as a participant cancellation, and the policy below will be applied.

Cancellation Policy

Because of the custom nature of our Choose Your Own Adventure Tours, they have a separate cancellation policy from our traditional guided tours. Should you choose to cancel or transfer your tour registration:

  • Transfer your registration to a scheduled Adventure Cycling Tour, and 75% of your full tour payment is available to transfer, 25% is retained by Adventure Cycling as a service fee*^

  • Cancel your registration, and 25% of your full tour payment is available for a refund, 75% is retained by Adventure Cycling as a service fee

or

  • Transfer your registration to a scheduled Adventure Cycling Tour, and 50% of your full tour payment is available to transfer, 50% is retained by Adventure Cycling as a service fee*^

  • Total funds paid are non-transferable and non-refundable

*A CYOA tour must meet the minimum group size 30 days before the tour departure. If through cancellations and transfers the group size falls below the minimum needed Adventure Cycling may cancel the departure or adjust the per person price.

^By transferring funds to a scheduled Adventure Cycling departure, your transferred funds will follow our traditional cancellation and transfer policy.

CYOA Cancellation by Adventure Cycling

Should Adventure Cycling need to cancel a CYOA at any time within 90 days of the tour departure for any reason, participants will have the option to fully transfer their paid funds, or receive a refund of their funds less a 10% service fee. If Adventure Cycling cancels a CYOA more than 90 days prior to the tour departure, any funds paid are fully refundable or transferable.
