GPX Data products consist of track and service waypoint files in gpx (GPS Exchange Format) file format to be used on a GPS device, smartphone, or tablet. These products are suggested as a companion product to the printed Adventure Cycling Route maps and feature the same services listed on the physical maps. Cities, small towns, farmland, forests, roads and trails – this route has it all! The Chicago to New York City Bicycle Route includes a main route and the Philadelphia Alternate, which goes between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and New York City. Heading east from Chicago you’ll go through Indianapolis, Columbus, and Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh you can choose to follow the main route, which crosses Pennsylvania into New Jersey, and then enters New York City from the north. If you choose the Philadelphia Alternate you’ll ride the Great Allegheny Passage and a portion of the C&O Canal Trail in Maryland. After leaving Philadelphia, the route goes east to the New Jersey shore and ends with a ferry ride into New York City from the south.

Why aren't corrections implemented immediately on the digital data as soon as they are entered in the errata? Maps I understand that are printed and you have stock but digital data is well, digital. There are specific corrections which are permanent and should be easily integrated into the files.
Other than that the maps are nice and useful. I would also like a background to the route like in the paper maps.

We are still working out the process for how often the digital data files will be republished. Theoretically, it should be easy to make changes and republish these digital files more often than the paper maps. In reality, there are over 100 (and growing) files to keep updated while still maintaining the paper maps and our other tasks. At this time, if we become aware of a safety issue on a route or of a mandatory detour (such as the mudslides on the California coast) we will update the files and republish them.
