Arkel has designed the sleekest trunk bag around. The Tail Rider is fully insulated, has an immense opening, many internal pockets and a divider to keep the contents in place. Waterproof zippers keep rain out and for a longer rides there is an integrated rain cover. A built-in expansion bellow will stretch for more carrying capacity when needed. Easily attaches to a rear rack with reflective velcro straps.

Finally, found a rear rack trunk that not only fits my rear rack securely without the flopping around but attaches quickly without the proprietary hardware of many rack trunks available. The internal pockets and divider help to contain small items without the annoying rattling around that is standard with most trunk bags

The Tail Rider is the perfect size for day rides. I can easily fit a pump, spare tube, multi-tool and tire levers, lock, lunch, and light jacket in it. The two side pockets are easily accessible for keys, phone, and wallet.

This is among my very favorite bike accessories already. I am impressed by the material quality, the high visibility of the yellow version, the well functioning exterior zippers, and the rain cover. I am especially pleased with the secure mounting straps: they give a solid grip on the rack and are quick and easy to attach and detach and they have worked on two different racks.

The bag coupled with Arkel-randonneur rack was roomy enough for carrying everything needed for a non-camping 3 day ride. I barely noticed it mounted off my seat post. My tail light was mounted on the seat post below the bag. I would prefer a mount on the bag or rack.

The Tailrider is a well made bag constructed of quality materials. The built in rain cover is a bonus. I can easily and quickly move the trunk from one bike to another, and the trunk fits very well on the Arkel Randonneur Rack on my road bike. I got the yellow color. It is really neat to see more panniers and trunks in bright colors instead of black. We all need to be more visible to distracted drivers.

Glad I splurged on this, it's so handy. Love that the rain cover is attached and is so easy to put on and off. And the bag comes on and off the bike in a jiffy. So many little pockets and compartments, and open the middle up for one big storage. Almost wish it wouldn't expand so high... it's tempting to take more stuff than I really should (my only complaint!).

I agree with all the other reviews, this rear bag is spot-on! "A"arkel really nailed it with this addition to their versatile line of touring bags. I was erroneously concerned at first about the 4 Velcro straps that basically "hold" this bag on the rear rack of my Salsa Vaya 2. After some Single Track action this past weekend....It was still there when I reached the road....so....I'll keep it :)

This is replacing a trunk bag that I got for cheap on Amazon. At the time I wasn't sure I was going to get much use out of the bag but in hindsight I wish I just splurged on the Tailrider because it works so great. It doesn't flop around and has pockets for small items. I use it on my commuter bike and it will be used for an upcoming credit-card tour this spring.

I agree with others that this is an extremely useful and versatile bag. I find it so useful that I bought the Randonneur rack to put on my speedy bike for club rides. Great details, eg, the yellow rain cover has a loop for hanging a rear light and the top straps expand to hold many unexpected items. I rarely go for a ride without it.

I love this bag and the ease with which it mounts. Also, a very sturdy mount on the rack. I used this bag for the first time while on vacation in Acadia National Park. I loved having it behind me, and found it roomy and convenient with the moveable separator inside. Perfect for carrying a bag of ice back to the campground! Very minor complaints: bag was just a tad longer than my rack so I was afraid my rear bike light wouldn't show. The other minor problem was that the reflective tape on the back was so near the top of the flap that you had to really pull hard to get it from the top of the bag to the back. I would suggest putting that reflective tape on the BOTTOM of the rear flap.
Great Rear Bag....

I love it. It is just the right size. The water proof top is an important feature. The side pockets are handy. The shape is nice. However, I really like the compression strap on top for securing a rain jacket. If the straps were a bit closer both would secure the jacket as it is it seems to work just fine. We got the red because it would be more visible .

Purchased the Arkel Tail Rider to mount on my custom-built BERG bike. I've used it on 30,000 km. of brevets and other long rides last year, including 3 back-to-back 1000 km. (620 miles) brevets on Vancouver Island. I was able to pack everything I needed for the 2 1/2 days of each of these brevets. The whole top flips up easily to access the many compartments inside the bag. A combination handle and external compression straps permit bulky items like jackets/sweaters to be stored on top of the bag. Excellent back-up by Arkel if a defect occurs. As mentioned in another review, the reflective straps which hold the bag on the rear rack make it easy to attach or remove from the rack. The reflective straps are a nice safety factor. This is also a very stable bag during fast and bumpy descents.

Like the other Arkel bags I own this bag is well made and very useful. I can fit in it a a liter of water, sandwiches, shorts, a camera, and other needed items such as a bike lock and a big tube of sunscreen lotion. The bag really expands or pulls tight. It mounts easily to my Old Man Mountain rack. I think I will have it for many years.

My #1 go-to bag for day rides and commuting. Easy on-off mounting to a rack is a plus. Holds a change of clothes for work (except the shoes which stay at work!), iPod, wallet, along with my lunch. Lots of space for day rides, like a couple of extra water bottles, any food I don't want to pack in my jersey, sunscreen, camera etc. And adjustable top straps allow one to expand/contract the pack to cinch down the load.
