2026 is the 100-year anniversary of Route 66 – so I plan to ride it when I am 66! Starting in Santa Monica, riding through the Mojave Desert and all the states in between, to Chicago. In Chicago, we will pick up the ACA Chicago to NYC route, but will deviate in Pittsburg, PA to Washington, DC via the GAP and C&O routes. This will be my fourth coast to coast bicycle tour (plus Pacific and Atlantic Coasts).

This will also be the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation, so what better venue to end our trip than in our nation’s capital, Washington, DC! If I stick to the schedule I planned, we will finish in DC on Thursday, May 29, and can attend the Marine Corps Friday evening parade on May 30, a national tradition on Friday nights throughout the summer.

Looking for another likeminded person to share this experience with. I did the Pacific Coast solo, and did not care for it. Please let me know if you are interested. Planning on an April 1 start, but somewhat flexible.
