Erie, Pennsylvania is celebrating the designations of U.S. Bicycle Routes 30 and 36, and using the new routes as a framework to build a local network of bicycle routes.
The Northern Maine Development Commission is in the final stages of designating a new U.S. Bicycle Route. When complete, the new route will connect to existing USBR 1 and to La Route Verte in Canada.
On Sunday, June 17, supporters of U.S. Bicycle Route 66 gathered in Joplin, Missouri for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the route's official designation.
Supporters of U.S. Bicycle Route 23 spoke to the city council in Cave City, Kentucky, and secured the city's support for designating the route. "The idea is to tie communities into a network that generates bicycle tourism all across the country."
