Registrants who sign up at BikeTravelWeekend.org by May 22 will be entered to win a Seldom Seen bikepacking bike from Advocate Cycles and an Amtrak trip for two, with bikes, to Glacier National Park.

MISSOULA, MONT., May 9, 2017 — Adventure Cycling Association invites people throughout the world to go on a one- or two-night bicycle trip to a campground, hotel, or B&B during the weekend of June 2–4, joining thousands already registered at no cost at BikeTravelWeekend.org. Participants can go alone, or with family or friends, or they can join an existing trip on the Bike Travel Weekend interactive map.

“Over 11,000 people went on more than 900 trips during the inaugural Bike Travel Weekend in 2016,” says Jim Sayer, executive director of Adventure Cycling Association. “It was a global bike-travel party and the adventure continues in 2017. Bike Travel Weekend is for big groups, small groups, and solo bike travelers. It can be one night or two nights, travelers can sleep outside or indoors, and ride whichever distance they choose.”

Everyone who registers for Bike Travel Weekend at BikeTravelWeekend.org before May 22 will be entered to win a Seldom Seen bikepacking bike from Advocate Cycles and an Amtrak trip for two, with bikes, to Glacier National Park.

Registrants have the option of making their trip open to others, creating connections and new friendships between adventurers. Participants can also connect with one of more than 100 Bike Travel Weekend Advisors, who are eager to share their local and regional knowledge of bike-friendly routes and overnight accommodations.

Examples of registered Bike Travel Weekend trips open to the public  include:

  • Escape from New York: Ride 50 intermediate miles with rolling hills on mostly roads and some optional gravel from lower Manhattan to a rustic campsite 50 miles away.

  • Applegate Valley Tour: Cover 75 miles in two days through wine country with meals at restaurants and breweries and an overnight at one of the many hotels in Grants Pass, Oregon.

  • Young People’s Bike Tour-Montana: Kids and teens with adult chaperones are welcome on this 27-mile ride along the Bitterroot Trail in western Montana to camp at a group site.
