Location: Adventure Cycling office in downtown Missoula, Montana

Compensation/Schedule: $20/hour, 20 hours/week (M-F, 12-5pm)

Adventure Cycling needs help from a motivated and people-oriented individual to greet visiting cyclists during the bicycle travel season, capture their stories, organize content, and create posts for Adventure Cycling social channels. This is an entry-level position, ideal for someone with background or an interest in photography, videography, social media, and bicycle travel. If this sounds like fun, please apply. Adventure Cycling hereby contracts for services related:

  • Greeting and spending time with visiting cyclists, asking them questions, learning about their trip and who they are, telling them about Adventure Cycling, and identifying great story potential
  • Taking Open Road Gallery photos and ensuring cyclists fill out the release form, complete with the story of their trip
  • Weighing loaded bicycles
  • Seeking out content opportunities, particularly video for social media, with interesting visiting cyclists and staff (during slow greeting times)
  • Creating content ready to be published on social media
  • Organizing photos and other assets for use across Adventure Cycling channels

Terms of the agreement: $20/hour, approximately 20 hours per week or 320 hours maximum. The weekly schedule is M-F, 12-5pm. The contract goes through September 30, 2024, or until the payment total reaches $6,400 (not to exceed). Adventure Cycling has the right to cancel the contract at any time.

Greeter & Content Creator will document their time and provide a monthly invoice showing hours and payment and will submit this to Digital Marketing Manager (Lauren Hudgins) at the end of every month.

Specifically, the contract includes performing the following duties which will be reported to the Digital Marketing Manager at the end of each month.

Position Responsibilities

  • Engage with visiting traveling cyclists who visit Adventure Cycling headquarters, welcome them, discover their stories, and communicate about Adventure Cycling and its mission
  • Capture photo and video content of willing visiting cyclists for use across social and digital channels
  • Engage with office staff and seek out “staff in action” or “office life” social content to give life to the Adventure Cycling brand.
  • Strategically identify opportunities for social content that helps the org achieve its mission impact goals, communicate with participants and impacted parties, and capture content according to Adventure Cycling standards
  • Collect and organize video and photo content; notify Marketing team of great stories for use across channels
  • Edit content to be ready to publish on social media
  • Help visiting cyclists weigh their loaded bikes and take Open Road Gallery photos when interesting cyclists arrive.
  • Notify Digital Marketing Manager of weekly progress

Desired Skills or Experience

  • An eye for editorial photography and videography as well as what makes a good, engaging story
  • Proficient in social strategies and best practices to generate awareness and foster engagement.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication with individuals and teams. Able to collaborate with subject matter experts and translate that knowledge into social campaigns and engagement actions.
  • Proficient at writing engaging short form copy and editing long-form copy to convey a brand message, CTA, and drive an engagement action.
  • Video and photography editing skills of appropriate quality for social media
  • Organized, self-motivating, and a fast learner with attention to detail
  • Comfortable with social media and asset management platforms
  • Ability to work with the public, in-house staff, and remote staff
  • Excited about bicycle travel, inclusivity, and storytelling through photo and video
