Adventure Cycling Association is the premier bicycle-travel organization in North America. With more than 40 years of experience and 52,000 members, it offers a robust roster of programs to help people connect to the joys and benefits of bicycle travel. The five-year strategic plan includes a major shift in emphasis that transforms Adventure Cycling Association from being America’s bicycle travel experts to catalyzing and supporting an expansive and interactive bicycle travel community in North America.

Adventure Cycling Association seeks an experienced leader who is passionate about the organization’s mission and the bike travel movement. The successful candidate has the listening, consensus building and advocacy skills of a seasoned negotiator and enjoys collaborating with individuals who represent diverse perspectives. This energetic person is future focused and understands 21st century advocacy and movement making.

This individual demonstrates leadership experience gained over a career of progressive management experience in the nonprofit, corporate and/or government sectors. This executive has experience coaching and mobilizing volunteers and staff to grow organizations. It is expected that candidates can demonstrate success in building durable relationships with partners, stakeholders, and donors, as well as in personally raising money. This innovative, results-oriented leader will demonstrate success in growing and operating a financially healthy organization.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex problems, is a life-long learner and is driven by the opportunities represented by Adventure Cycling Association’s mission. As the organization’s key spokesperson, this individual must enjoy working with the media and donors and have exceptional verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within a nonprofit governing environment. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university is expected.
