What gets the equivalent
of 1,000 miles per
gallon, doesn't pollute,
will save the world,
and transports you in
breezy style? Your bike.

Texas Hill Country

TOUR DESCRIPTION

TRIP DATES: Apr 04, 2009 - Apr 10, 2009
LOCATION: Austin, TX

If you think Texas is all flat, this weeklong spin through the rolling Texas Hill Country will whisk away that notion. The adventure begins and ends in Austin, "Live Music Capital of the World," and visits other settlements including Blanco, Fredericksburg, and Johnson City. Along with an intimate group of approximately 40 riders, you'll roller-coaster your way along low-traffic farm and ranch roads through this region of the Lone Star State renowned for its spectacular displays of spring wildflowers--most notably bluebonnets, which grow so thick they sometimes appear to be distant lakes on the horizon. We'll follow crystal-clear streams, traverse oak-covered hills, and camp beside rivers with names that evoke the old Southwest (e.g., Guadalupe and Pedernales). As we go, German-style biergartens, Texas barbecue, and Tex-Mex specialties will tempt our taste buds--which will no doubt succumb from time to time.
