The bicycle hides nothing
and threatens nothing.
It is what it does,
its form is its function.

Pedal Pioneers Training

TOUR DESCRIPTION

TRIP DATES: Jul 10, 2009 - Jul 12, 2009
LOCATION: Newtown, PA

Pedal Pioneers Training is a leadership course designed for teachers, youth-group leaders, and other passionate adults who want to take groups of kids on overnight bicycle adventures. The course distills three decades' worth of experience in organizing and leading bicycle tours and wraps it into a three-day package that will impart a wealth of knowledge and know-how, laced with a heavy dose of fun -- not to mention camaraderie -- and can offer continuing education credits, to boot.

This class is appropriate for both veteran and neophyte bicyclists who possess a strong desire to motivate the next generation to travel by bicycle. We'll start off with a few lectures, discussions, and hands on demonstrations. Next, we'll do some role-playing and other exercises designed to optimize group dynamics as well as hone organizational and leadership skills. Then we'll put it all into practice as we load up our bikes and set off on an overnight mini-tour. Our goal is to give you all the tools you'll need to successfully take a group of kids on the adventure of a lifetime -- whether it's a simple overnight outing or a month-long tour. Join Adventure Cycling, and a host of kindred spirits from around the U.S., in helping to inspire the next generation of bicycle travelers.
