This set combines the Western Express Route of 4 maps and the eastern portion of the TransAmerica Trail of 6 maps. The routes meet in Pueblo, Colorado. This combination is a more direct route between the east and west coasts through the central United States.

Trip in Planning

I bought this set of 10 maps to plan our cross country trip for the year of 2010.
We crossed the US in 1999 and again in 2008.
99 we used the Northern route maps (we mapped WI MI and Ontario ourselves because Adventure Cycling did not have those included yet. Their routes are much better than what I planned.) We had a person from our home town act as our sag for that crossing.
The 08 Southern crossing was self contained.
Maps were great.
Route was excellent.
We did a detour in LA, and MS to go to the coast to see the reconstruction effort.
We plan to cross the third time to celebrate my 70 birthday.
We may do it over three years to get the best riding time of the year for each section.
We will probably go West to East self contained but will stay in motels and eat in diners.
We wouldn't think of doing this without "the maps"
Camping and lodging information is great and having the emergency information at your finger tips is a real comfort. The material the maps are made of is fantastic.
It stands up to folding, crushing, rain and are almost new when you finish the ride. We use the elevation guide along with mileage to determine the length of each day.
Temperature and rainfall averages are also helpful.
We are looking forward to this next ride.
