5 Stars A Great Product
by a member from Deerfield, New Hampshire on Oct 29, 2009
The Power Monkey Solar Charger worked well for me on my Northern Tier tour and Pacific Coast tour this past summer. I was very impressed by how it worked and the company behind the product. The solar charger comes with a wide variety of adapters to fit all types of cell phones. The other devices that it has adapters for are I-Pods and labtops. The only thing that I couldn't use my charger for was my GPS. A few days after receiving the solar charger I was sent the Emergency Power Charger. This power supply reduces the charge time in case of an emergency. The potential buyer needs to keep in mind that this should and can only be used to "MAINTAIN" the battery charge in your electronics. IT WILL NOT RECHARGE A FULLY DRAINED BATTERY. On my tour, I found that I could find outlets in libraries, restaurants, cafes etc. to charge my electronics if needed. However, there were some stretches where this charger was very useful in prolonging my need to find outlets to plug into. Depending on the tour and your budget this could be a worthy investment.

4 Stars Is Not Adequate to Charge Laptops
by a member on Aug 9, 2009
If you plan to take a laptop with you, you will need to purchase the Solar Gorilla, not the Power Monkey. Unfortunately, the ads here are not terribly clear on this point. The Power Monkey is not powerful enough to charge a laptop. Great for cell phones, IPods, etc., but nothing requiring higher charges. The Solar Gorilla is expensive, but does work! I use it for my laptop, cell phone, and camera systems without any difficulty. The primary supplier even sent me a free connector for my specific laptop. Very helpful customer service, willing to answer questions quickly.

2 Stars Discharged rather than charged my BlackBerry
by Nikii Murtaugh from Athena, OR on Aug 4, 2009
I bought the Power Monkey on the recommendation of a bicycling friend for a backpacking trip in Boundary Waters area of Minnesota. The Power Monkey did not perform. Instead when I tried to charge my phone, the battery went down. Fortunately, I was able to recharge my phone when we exited the Kekakbic Trail. I returned my Power Monkey yesterday. If you decide to purchase one, make sure that it will work with your items. It says works with most cell phones, but not my BlackBerry Curve 8330.
