Developed over 20 years ago, at that time it was a quantum leap in performance. The first high-quality tire suitable for reliable touring as well as everyday use. These characteristics quickly made it popular and today it is still Europe’s most ridden touring tire. In the newest version with KevlarGuard and Allround tread compound it can easily fulfill everything that is expected of a Marathon tire: effective puncture protection, durability and excellent handling characteristics. Wire bead.

Customer Reviews

5 Stars Nice riding, easy to install.

I switched to these tires from Continental Touring Plus tires. The Conti's were VERY hard to install on my rims (700x28 Matrox Vapor), including 3 pinched tubes and a snapped tire iron. These Schwalbe tires are a touch bigger and install much easier. They seem to be made of a more supple material than the Conti's and give a much smoother ride. The Conti's were unstable on my bike (Trek 520) in any high speed cornering - I checked twice to make sure rotation was correct. The Schwalbe Marathons are stable and track very true - no shimmy or rough feeling at all in corners. Also, I had very uneven wear on the Conti's front vs. rear, but it's too early to tell with the Schwalbe. So far i am very impressed and happy with them.

5 Stars Recommended for touring

Just finished a week long tour through BC and WA with the 28's on a Santana Tandem. Rode everything from highway to rough gravel trails, and not a problem. Had good confidence on whatever surface I was on for puncture resistance. Not as stick as say a Conti which would be based on the aggressive tread pattern. Not light, and tough to squeeze into the airline case, but worth it

Loved my first set so much, bought another. The first set lasted over 7000 miles with very few flats but succumbed this year to all the glass on the Major Taylor Trail.
