ACA Helped Me: No Health Issues: We traveled in remote regions and thus carried a first-aid kit adapted to this purpose. Luckily we did not need anything...
No health problems during the whole trip, maybe because we made sure we ate well. As we returned to Ulaan Baatar I got a severe throat infection due to the pollution in town. Motivation: Interest for unknown landscapes, plants and animals; desire to travel to remote regions; encounter with nomad culture. Most Challenging Aspect: The unknown - we did not know what the situatuion of food supply was in the region we traveled. In addition, we had no good maps, so navigation was a challenge, too (and remember, this was before everyone owned a GPS device). Favorite Experience: Fascinating and diverse desert and steppe landscapes; friendly nomads! Least Favorite: We had some problems with the tire that came with the BOB trailer - it was completely worn down after 500 km, and we did not have a spare one. Tips: Mongolia is a rewarding country for everyone who is open to different cultures and who likes challenges of the unknown in fascinating scenery Online Journal: Click Here
