When Valerie Coulter established her Missoula bicycle courier service, exCARgo, she thought big, and wanted to be equipped to carry loads of up to a quarter ton. So she commissioned the construction of this trike. It’s big feature is the 4’ x 3’ x 3’ insulated, waterproof cargo box. That’s 36 cubic feet of space.
While we don’t expect that this trike will ever leave Missoula as it racks up the miles in the years to come, we can speculate. Consider taking this rig on the road – a kind of bicycle powered Airstream trailer. Carry as much gear as you like. During heavy rain or a hailstorm, just get in the box. Or change the proportions of the box, add a window or two and you wouldn’t need to take along a tent.
