NORTHWEST

South Dakota to Seattle   created: 03/18/2010
I've got it in my head to begin an adventure at Rapid City, South Dakota, and travel through the Badlands, Wounded Knee, the Black Hills, through Montana to Glacier National Park, and onto Seattle. I'm a married teacher, in my 50s, and want to leave in mid-June. I'm ready for 70 miles a day, camping out, and an occasional motel. Six years ago, a companion and I traveled from Oregon to Baltimore. It changed my life.

Washington Parks - Summer 2010   created: 03/06/2010
June 21 - July 22. 34-year-old male with some touring experience. Will start in Seattle and ride west to the Olympic Peninsula, where I will ride the Washington Parks Route counterclockwise. After riding through Olympic, Mt. Rainier, and North Cascades national parks, I'll head west with hopefully enough time to explore the San Juan Islands before heading back to Seattle. 50 to 80 miles a day, with an occasional "rest" day for hiking in the National Parks. Mostly camping, with a possible homestay along the way via warmshowers.org. Would love company for the ride.

Kettle Valley rail trail this summer   created: 03/15/2010
Join me for five to six days of spectacular British Columbia scenery, orchard, and wineries. I plan to cycle the Carmi Subdivision section either in either June, July, or August. Start and finish in Midway. Accommodation will be mostly camping, including backcountry. Longest day will be around 100 kilometers, though keep in mind this is a rail trail so the grade is never very challenging. However, note the last day (Osoyoos to Midway) will be on road and will involve a lot of climbing.

Mountain-Bike Touring - Southern Alberta   created: 03/15/2010
Looking to chat with anyone with experience and/or knowledge of mountain-bike touring routes in Alberta other than the Great Divide. I live in Calgary and would love to do some multi-day excursions into some of the southern rangeland/grassland of the province, in particular some of the country north of Crowsnest Pass (e.g., around Maycroft, Porcupine Hills). Singletrack okay but not too much rough stuff - I only have a hardtail and four panniers. Might consider Drumheller/Badlands area too.

Experienced cycle tourist wants companions leaving Vancouver in mid July. Let's go to Calgary via Prince George, Jasper, and Banff. Then depending on time, let's go to Yellowstone National Park then back towards Vancouver by the end of August. Mainly camping and cooking, and time to enjoy. Don't forget, where there's GREAT scenery, there's hills. If interested
