Epic Mountain Bike Adventures

Ever have one of those rides that were so sweet you didn’t want it to end? On a multi-day mountain bike adventure they don’t have to—simply wake up and hit the dirt for more. More riding. More exploration. More adventure. From routes and maps to guided trips and gear, the Adventure Cycling Association—North America’s leading resource for velo adventure—is pioneering a new level of mountain bike epics.

Go Big
We’ve created the longest off-pavement bike route in the world, the Great Divide Route. With a new Canadian extension starting in Banff, the GDR covers 2,711 miles of remote jeep roads, mountain passes, and postcard-worthy campsites stretching all the way to the Mexican border. Calling it “One of the best backcountry adventure trips in America,” Outside magazine says, “Next summer is set: With these six waterproof maps from Adventure Cycling you're ready to trace the dirt-track spine of the States. The painstakingly researched route is glorious and the maps detail specific directions.”

Guided Adventure
Don’t have 75 days to ride the whole route? Pick your own stretch, or join us on one of our guided Great Divide trips, like Cycle the Divide Montana, a seven-day, 50-rider mountain bike-apalooza that National Geographic Adventure calls, “unique in the world of bike trips: The comforts of a catered, van-supported tour, usually available only to roadies, are combined with the backcountry camping of a bona fide off-road route.”

Like getting high? Our Colorado Alpine Explorer trip is a five-day, van-supported ride on sky scratching jeep roads in the highest reaches of Colorado’s San Juan Mountains. Check out our Great Divide Alpine and Great Divide Wind River for ten-day, self-contained ride—we supply a trip leader; you muscle your gear—through the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming. Virgin riders will enjoy our Intro to Dirt Touring, a six-day course in Winter Park, Colorado, that will have you ready for any fat-tire adventure you can dream up.

Bomber Gear
Great adventures require great gear, and our Cyclosource store and print catalog sell only the best, trail-tested trailers, panniers, tents, stoves, and riding-ware from companies like BOB, Ibex, Arkel, and MSR.

Epic Stories
If adventure is fueled by inspiration, our members-only magazine Adventure Cyclist is an inspiration pipeline. Check out some of our recent stories from the Grand Canyon, British Columbia, Newfoundland, and Baja. Or dig into our Ride Registry, where cyclists like you write about their own epic rides in places like the Great Divide, Mongolia, and Greenland. Yup, someone biked Greenland.
