24-year-old Alex Field came from Sydney, Australia, to ride in his first GDR. When the student at Sydney University was asked if he was spending time in the U.S. after the race he said, “It depends on how fast I finish.” His return ticket to Australia leaves Albuquerque twenty-five days after the race start.
