With the launch of our newly redesigned website last month, we also improved the functionality of the "My Adventure Cycling" account system. Your account allows you to manage your Adventure Cycling Association information, submit a trip to our Ride Registry, as well as offering more streamlined submittal of map corrections.

- Adventure Cycling leads do-it-yourself Florida trips
- It was the beginning of Adventure Cycling's Introduction to Road Touring, a measly 18 miles round trip to get groceries and test out our bikes. It was also, I suppose, an opportunity for our tour leaders to assess the weakest links. Encouraging shouts lost on the wind, California girls Lori and Pam blew by me as if I were standing still. Louisville Phil had a big custom-made trailer about as unwieldy as hauling a Prius, but he seemed plucky. Then there was Tropicana Jim from Bradenton, not young, but an elegant athlete with a creamy-leather Brooks saddle and perfectly matched custom fenders. Tony and Denise from Atlanta? Warm and enthusiastic, they'd hiked and biked the length of the grueling El Camino de Santiago in Spain. Twice.

- It's not often you buy one-way tickets on airplane trips. Becky and I did that recently. Two tickets from Baltimore to Portland, Oregon. Our bicycles, which shipped this week from our front porch, will meet us in Astoria where the TransAmerican bicycle route across the US starts for us.

- U.S. Bicycle Route System Expands to 5,616 Miles
AASHTO approves new routes in Minnesota, Missouri, and realignments in Kentucky
Missoula, Montana — Adventure Cycling Association and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) today announced that AASHTO's Special Committee on U.S. Route Numbering has approved a new section of U.S. Bicycle Route 45 in Minnesota, USBR 76 in Missouri, and realignments for USBR 76 in Kentucky. With these new approvals, the U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) now encompasses 5,616 miles of official U.S. Bike Routes in 10 states: Alaska, Kentucky, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Virginia.

- Adventure Cycling Launches 4th Annual U.S. Bicycle Route System Campaign
Annual fundraiser kicks off with a $35,000 matching challenge, more new route approvals expected next week
Missoula, Montana — For the fourth year in a row, Adventure Cycling is kicking off its celebration of National Bike Month by launching its month-long U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) fundraising campaign, Build It. Bike It. Be a Part of It. Thanks in part to the $150,000 raised over the last four years by this annual spring event, 5,071 miles of U.S. Bicycle Routes have been designated so far. This year, Adventure Cycling hopes to raise $100,000 by May 31.
