A major landslide occurred on October 11 on panel 18 west of Naches. Transportation officials have closed a 47-mile stretch of State Route 410 - from Mount Rainier National Park's Lake Tipsoo to its junction with U.S. Highway 12 at the Y west of Naches. Officials say it could be weeks before State Route 410 is reopened. For more information go to the WA DOT website: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Traffic/trafficalerts/

Another resource for keeping track of this landslide and road closure can be found here: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR410/Landslide/Update.htm. At this time, it also includes detour information since the temporary road is rough gravel and only open to residents. For further information, call the project hotline phone number: 509-577-1635.

Route 410 is now open to all traffic including bikes with a  gravel road diversion around the landslide (which you don't get to see). I did it last week.
