I am currently using two of these cages on my Trek 520 while on tour on the Southern Tier going east to west.I am in west Texas as I write this.Temps have been 90-100 degrees every day.I can carry a 3 liter bottle and a 2 liter on my frame no problem and I need every drop.On the down side I had to mount them with one screw in the lower cage hole but screwed into the top hole on my frame.I then used a zip tie through the top strap slot to secure it. In this configuration I could get two very large bottles within the frame triangle. The straps that came with them were clumsy and I used bungy cords. So while I had to fool around and fudge things a little, these cages are never owning off Ol' Blue

Secure enough for 3 liters of water on a dirt road, but not on single track. The straps aren't long enough, had to go buy webbing at REI and make my own. I still think it will be worth having, its just not as big a deal as I hoped.

I bought the Salsa Cage and modified it in the following ways to fit my needs: 1. I used rubber cement on the inside of the straps to securely hold my stainless steal 64 oz canteen 2. I use a (rei) tiedown to secure the canteen to the cage (just in case the straps fail). 3. I used old innertube strips to wrap around the cage so it cushions the canteen (avoids the metal on metal rattle when I ride off road) Here is my experience with the cage accompanied with my alterations: 1. My full canteen stays very secure and noise free. 2. The supplied straps (with the rubber cement) are outstanding in holding my 1/2 gallon canteen I have a full suspension bike and barely have room for two bottles. The salsa cage mounted underneath my frame has plenty of clearance on my 26" tire bike. Definately a huge recommend for a rider with my type of needs and configuration
